Giving Kids with Special Needs the Opportunity to Experience the Great Outdoors
OUR NEXT EVENT
September 2024
Freedom hunt is an organization that is focused on offering youth with special needs the opportunity to experience the outdoors with the guidance of various volunteers who have years of hunting and fishing experiences to share. Each participant is offered up the opportunity to hunt, fish, camp, and become intimately acquainted with the beauties of mother nature beside the calm waters of the Eel River in Northcentral Indiana. Our organization also strives to create long-lasting friendships among those who participate in our event each year.
Experience Freedom Hunt
Freedom Hunt is a three-day outdoor experience held on private property in Cass County, Indiana. Hosted by generous volunteers, the weekend is spent camping, cooking over the fire, learning about hunter safety, fishing and outdoor games with friends - new and old.
Open to special needs boys and girls between the ages of 5-17 years old
Choose a volunteer-guided Hunting -OR- Fishing-based experience
Our organization will assist each young hunter in navigating through the licensing process to participate in our annual deer hunt
Wide Open Spaces
Nature-based learning has so many benefits for kids with special needs. Participants have the opportunity to explore their environment and stimulate their senses in our outdoor location. From skipping rocks to playing games, all of our kids will have the opportunity to become physically active in a tranquil rural setting.
Fostering Friendship
Our event is designed to be inclusive. Children have the opportunity to make new friends with similar challenges and unique differences.
Positive Leadership
The kids LOVE our volunteers! Each child is mentored by an encouraging adult who understands their challenges and teaches new skills with patience and respect for each of our kid’s challenges. Many of our participants have gained the independence and confidence to try new activities.
