2023 Event Fast Facts

  1. Our event takes place during the last FULL weekend of September every year.

  2. Our base camp is located on a privately owned farm 1 mile south of the town of Hoover, IN, along the banks of the Eel River.

  3. Safety is always a priority as our base camp is located in a wooded area, along the river bank, approximately ½ mile from the nearest platted county road.

  4. We offer up traditional tents and cots for all of our participants, all of which are situated around our base camp in naturally shaded areas.

  5. Participants may also choose to bring their own tents, campers, or RV’s, all of which we can accommodate with some reasonable notice.

  6. If hotel accommodations are absolutely necessary due to a particular special need of a participant, please contact co-coordinator, Brad Rozzi, through the information listed on the website.

  7. There are no formal bathing facilities in the camp. However, we do have two porta-johns that are centrally located in the camp.

  8. Each attendee will need to bring a sleeping bag or blankets for their tents. You will also need to bring your own pillows.

  9. You should bring your own hygiene products.

  10. We will supply all the hunters with hunting gear (head to toe) but those who have elected the fishing experience should bring normal clothing taking into consideration the weather forecast for the weekend.

  11. We supply all the food and drinks throughout the entire weekend.

  12. Food choices generally involve traditional camping food such as hot dogs, burgers, potatoes, eggs, bacon, venison, fish, other types of wild game and barbecued pork. We also provide various snacks, such as cookies and chips. In the event your participant has diet restrictions, you are free to bring your own food or communicate with us in advance of the hunt and we will try our best to accommodate your request.

  13. All hunters must purchase their hunting licenses at the time of registration. The link for license purchases can be found on the website.

  14. We appreciate all participants arriving in camp no later than 5pm on Friday.

  15. ILLEGAL DRUGS (INCLUDING MARIJUANA) AND ALCOHOL ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED IN CAMP AND IF DISCOVERED, WILL RESULT IN THE REMOVAL FROM CAMP FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEKEND.

  16. We generally begin the opening ceremony at approximately 7pm on Friday evening.

  17. The goal is to have everyone out of the camp and on their way home by 1pm on Sunday.

  18. Inclimate weather is always a concern due to the base camp setting and primitive nature of our event and therefore, we reserve the right to seize and/or cancel all event activities at our discretion.

  19. Those who are fishing are welcome to bring their own fishing poles and tackle with the understanding that we will also be supplying poles, tackle and other equipment on Friday evening after the opening ceremonies.

  20. We will also supply clothing and gear to all hunters who are first-time participants. However, you may bring your own gear if you so desire.

  21. All participants will be contacted by a “guide” sometime between late August and mid-September. Each hunter/fisher will be assigned a guide for the entire event. The guide’s primary task is to coordinate hunting and fishing-related activities throughout the weekend. The guide will be the final decision-maker as it relates to all hunting and fishing activities.

  22. Guides will also be the final decision maker regarding the use of any particular firearm for those participants who are hunting.

  23. Each hunter will be allowed to harvest one deer, buck or doe, during the event.

  24. Hunting will primarily be done out of pre-set ground blinds. No tree stands will be used.

  25. Those participants who are hunting, will be expected to be out in the field well before sun-up on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

  26. All harvested deer are fully processed in the week after the hunt and every effort is made to see to it that the processed animal is delivered to the hunter. At times, this may be difficult or impractical for those who live outside of the state of Indiana, but we will make every effort to ensure that the processed animal is not wasted.
